forged item/forgery偽造品

There is nothing rarer in Chinese porcelain than a Changhua chicken up. Of which there are less than 20 genuine ones in the world.

A rare Ming-era Chinese wine cup, one of only 19 known to exist, fetched a record US$ 32m (NT$ 1.1 b).

Only 19 such cups are known to exist, with just four in private collections.

It’s called the chicken cup because of the decoration. It’s got a cockerel with chicks behind it.

This decoration and this coloring were never done before Changhua. The quality of the porcelain is unsurpassed.

The small white porcelain cup, decorated with a color painting of a rooster and a hen tending to their chicks, was made during the reign of the Changhua Emperor between 1465 to 1486.

The cup has survived for 500 years in perfect condition.

The chicken cup represents the pinnacle of Ming-era porcelain production.

Emperors of later Chinese dynasties were so enamored by the design that the chicken cup was copied extensively.

This is the single most forged item in the history of Chinese art.
